Join us for our July Silent Book Club Matthews meeting at Cellar & Ale! Cellar & Ale has much more than just wine and beer, including a book section aptly called The Ink Drinker. They also have a delicious menu with something for everyone.
We are so excited to welcome two local authors to Silent Book Club this month!
Tori L. James
Tori L. James is a Carolina girl who loves Jesus, coffee, books, flowers, and fall. Her passion for literature blossomed in adulthood, leading her to beta read for authors. With encouragement from her husband and authors, Tori has now embarked on a dream career she never knew she wanted! When she's not reading or writing, Tori loves spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. She also uses her platform to make a difference by advocating for mental health care.
Carter Pugh
Carter Pugh resides in North Carolina with her husband and their beloved puppy, Cheese. An avid reader of fantasy, romance, and sci-fi, Carter’s passion for writing spans most of her life. She launched her writing career in 2023 with her debut novel, Death Rattle. In her downtime, she enjoys British TV shows like Escape to the Country and Absolutely Fabulous. With family roots in England, she holds a deep affection for its culture.
How Silent Book Club Works
Silent Book Club is called that because it is an opportunity to enjoy quietly reading a book in a location different from your home, where no discussion is required. Some of the locations we visit might have background noise and conversations, but you do not have to participate in any conversations during your time with us. One favorite comment from a past event was, “It was like I took myself out on a date, and I LOVED it.”
Event Schedule
6:00-6:30 PM: Arrival, grab a sip, meet the authors, find a comfy place to read
6:30-7:30 PM: Quiet reading hour
7:30-8:00 PM: Continue reading, talk with others, author Q&A
Feel free to come and go as you please, staying for as little or as long as you like.
